Another significant bit of DTA history was made with an expanded team of eight members travelling, all of whom put in a phenomenal effort in their events, further enhanced the reputation of our Club at these major UK Aikido Competitive events.
As a run-up event to the WSAF World Aikido Championships this year, the BAA National Championships was well attended with many of the UK national squad and team members competing. The prestige of this event also saw a high number of high ranking and respected referees and assistants officiating ensuring the event ran smoothly. The quality of Aikido on display was very high and the competition fierce.
It was a proud moment at the end of the day to hear "From Dublin, Ireland; DTA" being called many times at the award giving ceremony and to round the day off our younger team members had accumulated the most points as a group to secure the first ever BAA National Championships Cadet Cup for our club.
Most of all though, we gained a lot of experience, received important feedback and many of the highest graded instructors and coaches in the UK generously took the time to offer important guidance before and after each event.
As with all these events we travel to, we made many new friends, renewed some old friendships and above all enjoyed ourselves immensely.
