Message from Laura Beardsmore - Squad Manager (Joint)

We are excited to announce that the BAA will be hosting its first squad session in Dublin! This is exciting as the Dublin club who are affiliated to the team have been hugely involved in the growth of the Junior and Senior WSAF events and so it will be exciting to allow some of the up and coming Irish stars the chance to train with the best in the world!

Paul Carr and I booked our flights for Dublin yesterday for £40 return so its really reasonable and an airbnb share near the Belgard Community Centre is the most cost effective way of sorting the weekend. So prepare early as this is an offical session that counts towards squad and team selection for the San Diego WSAF World championships 2019.

BAA National Team & Squad

The BAA National Team was formed in 1988, and is the flag ship of the BAA.  The latest developments in competition are practiced and in turn taken back to the Clubs. To become a BAA Team player takes determination, dedication and skill, to name but a few qualities. Within this there is the BAA National Squad which consists of 12 members and who are the elite of the BAA National Team. Competition to be selected for the BAA National Squad is very high and those selected have proven themselves to be the very best.

There is an open invitation to all egistered BAA competitive Aikido players from 2nd Kyu (Blue Belt) and above to attend squad sessions whether or not you want to compete for a place on the team/squad or not. You will come away from squad training sessions with a better understanding of Randori and a lot of high level technique and tips.
