Young people mimic what they learn. If you your child only knows how to strike, he or she will want to punch and kick. If you teach your child how to be more aware, relaxed and confident in a difficult encounter, fear and animosity become less automatic in the moment. Clear thinking and instinctive, precise action can replace violence as a response. This is the kind of martial art training on the Aikido mat that becomes a useful tool for dealing with life’s problems that your child will face as they grow up.
Much of Aikido martial art training takes place with a partner. This helps the young person interact with others and build social skills; a valuable skill for life. Aikido classes are taught in a safe environment with well thought out training methods. The classes are comprised of warm-up exercises, basic movements that make up the building blocks of Aikido skills, more advanced techniques, and some playful exercises/games meant to enhance the skills already beginning to develop.
As a registered IMAC (Irish Martial Arts Commission) member, we take compliance with Child Protection guidelines seriously. All senior Instructors in the children's classes have completed training in Child Protection in Sport, Basic First Aid, are Garda vetted and registered with IMAC. There is usually two senior instructors present for each children's class and often three or more.

€50 per month |
---|
Your child's first month can be paid for in cash. After that, fees are charged automatically by credit/debit. Classes are one hour in length, held twice per week and represent very good value (approx €6 per class). Regular attendance twice per week is necessary to allow students to absorb, maintain and develop the skills of Aikido.
** New students are not accepted if they cannot attend two classes per week
NOTE: Guardians/Parents are required to complete a registration form before their child will be allowed onto the mat.
It's important to take into account that our club is run exclusively by volunteers during their personal time on a not-for-profit basis. Your child's subs go towards the expenses of running the club; i.e. hall rental, instructor insurance, IMAC compliance and equipment rental/maintenance (mats). Your child's first months subs can be paid in cash, thereafter monthly subs must be paid via our membership managment system, SUBSNINJA.COM.
Before your child's first month or training has come to an end and you have told us you want to continue you will receive an email from us via SUBSNINJA.COM inviting you to enter credit/debit card details for monthly billing. Note: you can login to your members account at any time to view, update personal details, update card details or cancel your account if needed.
We really appreciate your consideration in this matter as it helps greatly to reduce admin overhead and keep the club running smoothly.
For the first month, your child will be covered by the club's general insurance. To continue to train after the first month you need to register them as a member of the British Aikido Association (BAA), the association to which our club is formally affiliated. Under 18's membership of the BAA is £25 per annum and is paid directly to the BAA. Membership of the BAA entitles our young members to access BAA seminars, official BAA/JAA grading examination events, BAA/WSAF competitions as well as insurance coverage.
Full details for joining the BAA are here (britishaikidoassociation.co.uk/about-memberships/)
