After a short plane trip from Dublin, two trains and a short walk we arrived at Brighton Ittaikan Aikido dojo at the Falmer Sports Centre on the University of Brighton campus where Paul Bonnet 6th Dan and chief instructor of Ittaikan had organised this unique event. With just enough time to change into dogi we were on the mat taking part in the warm up. From 7pm to 9:30pm Friday evening, through a full day on Saturday and finishing at 3pm on Sunday we had received over thirteen hours high level instruction.
With feet, arms, legs and wrists tired and/or sore we left Brighton Sunday evening with some new skills, a wealth of new information, as well as some one-to-one personal instruction from Tsuchiya Sensei to guide each of us on our Aiki journey and to share with members back in Dublin.
Many thanks to Paul Bonnet Sensei for organising and inviting us to this event and also providing personal guidance to all of us during the week-end. We all appreciated the warmth and friendliness of all in attendance and we took the opportunity in rest periods to catch up with some friends and make some new connections.
